About KarooBlom
How did KarooBlom start?
Welcome to KarooBlom - my passion project! KarooBlom was born out of my passion for all things bright and colourful.
I have been obsessed with earrings for as long as I can remember. Some women collect shoes, others collect handbags, but I have always collected earrings. Unfortunately it has not always been easy finding jewellery which suits my specific taste - that being obscenely bright and colourful - as most shops only sell demure, monotonous and plain jewellery.
Having decided that there are not enough choices out there for people like me with an entirely different taste in jewellery, KarooBlom was started with the hope of rectifying that. So.. if you favour bold and unique jewellery and you are also a firm believer that no woman can ever have enough earrings - you have come to the right place!

What is in a name?
The name KarooBlom is an ode to my birth country South Africa and a combination of two words originating from my mother tongue, Afrikaans.
The first word “Karoo” refers to the desert region in South Africa which, interestingly, covers almost 40 per cent of South Africa's land surface and stretches across four of the country's nine provinces.
The second word “Blom” means flower in Afrikaans. During winter, the Karoo can seem like a barren landscape, but during the spring and summertime, it transforms into a sea of flowers made up of a myriad of different shades ranging from soft-lilac-pink to sunset-orange to lapis lazuli-blue.
I like to imagine flowers as being nature’s very own jewellery and I draw most of my inspiration for jewellery designs from flowers.
